A great variety of books are available for English methods instruction and can serve as textbooks and supplimental materials.
More than ten years ago Professor Peter Smagorinsky published a study of English education methods courses, How English Teachers Get Taught. While in some ways dated, this book remains an important resource. This website seeks to extend and develop materials in Smagorinsky's book, as well as serve as a portal to a wide variety of on-line resources.
The CEE Commission on English Methods Teaching and Learning is a group of CEE members dedicated to improving teaching in English education methods courses.
On Monday following the NCTE convention the CEE sponsors a day-long workshop on teaching methods courses.
